West Ham's Lanzini compensation revealed

How long will Lanzini be out for?

Considering he's ruptured his ACL, the midfielder is set to miss the start of the Premier League season for West Ham.

Indeed, West Ham could be without Lanzini for many months.

While the Hammers will likely have to react to Lanzini's injury in the transfer market, there is a sliver of good news for the Irons.

It's been reported over the weekend that West Ham will not be out of pocket for Lanzini's injury.

As it happened on international duty, the Argentinian FA will have to cough up Lanzini's wages until he's fit again.

Injury a lot worse than first thought, very serious concerns he'll play again. Absolutely devastated for the fella!

Absolutely gutted.

Whichever way you look at it, it's a fucking disaster.

Just hope that unlike Deano's bone injury as it's a ligament injury it should at least not end his career.

We've lost possibly our best or definitely 2nd best player and only one of two world class players when on form that we have for at least a year. Can't see any upside at all apart from maybe us not losing him after a stellar WC, but at least then we'd have an extra £40m+ in the kitty rather than having to plug a £40m hole to now replace him.

- sighs at the trials and tribulations of being West Ham

Re: Lanzini-World Cup over
Seems a fairly specific initial diagnosis of ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee.
The 6 to 9 months is a fairly standard term I think which means by the time he is fit enough to train he is looking at getting ready for the following season.
I wouldn’t expect to see him at all next season

As someone said at least it has happened now rather on the day after the transfer window closed.
We need replacements for him, Noble and Kouyate in midfield. Plus Mario if he isn’t coming back.

Re: Lanzini-World Cup over
True norm, but with some media or twitter/facebook trolls etc current obsession of slagging off West Ham or beating up non story's of anything negative they can get hold of, this may also be another example, before diagnoses it seems the worst case scenario has been assumed?

As i said above, in all the reports i saw it said nothing about being out for most of next season!

syd

all reports suggest ruptured knee ..you are correct though..until hes been assessed fully its all conjecture

..best part of a year out if true though

Sydney_Iron 2:12 Sat Jun 9
Re: Lanzini-World Cup over
All the reports i have seen say hes out of the WC, nothing about this meaning hes out for a good chunk of next season as well?

Also isnt it a bit premature to make such statements, surely it takes week or 2 for swelling etc to go down and they can make a more realistic assessment.

Oh, and 100!

Re: Lanzini-World Cup over
I'm absolutely gutted for him, but as for us, if you stop and think about it, he wasn't all that good last season - well below his best. Who's to say he would have been all that good next season? As Stubbo says, at least we know where we stand now - we need another playmaker. I would say it's highly likely that whoever we get will be an upgrade on last season's Lanzini.

Re: Lanzini-World Cup over
Wouldnt they usually need to let the swelling go down before being able to offee up any guesstimate on when he could be back?

Seems a pretty quick diagnosis.

Is it the same knee that he “recovered” from under our physio team......

Re: Lanzini-World Cup over
If they offered Mata plus 40m to 50m, I'd say that was sensible deal in our new position of needing a CAM.

All pie in the sky of course, but 40 to 50m to do on a striker plus Mata to fill the Lanzini shaped hole might just be worth it.

Re: Lanzini-World Cup over
They will do a carroll and wait for him to be fit , then when he never is not have anyone to replace him.
